In case | |
We use in case lớn express that we are doing something in preparation for something which might happen. | Take an umbrella in case it rains!I"ll buy some more wine in case this bottle is not enough. |
In case of | |
We use in case of to lớn say what we should bởi vì if or when something happens. | In case of fire, leave the building as quickly as possible.(= ‘If there is a fire, leave the building.’) |
As long as | |
We use as long as to lớn express a condition, i.e. To say that something will happen only on condition that something else happens. | I"ll lend you the book as long as you promise lớn give me it back next week.(= If you don"t promise lớn give the book back next week, I will not lend you it.) |
As long as expresses that one thing depends on another. | You can go to lớn the các buổi party as long as you come back before midnight.(= You can go to the party, but you must promise to lớn be back before midnight.) |
As long as has the same meaning as if, providing & provided. | You can go khổng lồ the buổi tiệc ngọt if/providing/provided you come back before midnight. We"re going skiing next week if/providing/provided there"s enough snow. |
Unless | |
Unless means "except if". We use unless lớn say that there may be an exception & that this exception will change the situation. | We"re playing tennis tomorrow unless it rains.(= We"re playing tennis tomorrow. However, one exception could change our plans – rain.) Don"t go there unless he tells you to.(= Don"t go there, except if he tells you khổng lồ go.) |
We use the present tense after unless when referring lớn the future. | I won’t go to the các buổi party unless she invites me. |
Compare unless & if. | We"ll cancel tomorrow"s tennis match if it rains. We"ll cancel tomorrow"s tennis match unless the weather improves. |

The examples are good. Thank you. But I think there is a mistake in the explanation of the 1st example for ‘as long as’. It is written: (= If you don’t promise to give the book back next week, I will not lend you it.) It should be: (= If you don’t promise to give the book back next week, I will not lend it lớn you.)
